New bike paths in Marseille for 2024

[id]

So far using your bike in Marseille was not easy. The bike paths were scarce. Thanks to the development of slow tourism in Marseille, wich is very fashionable today, the city adapts itself little by little and has just finalized a beautiful bi-directional bike path on the Corniche Kennedy overlooking the sea.

250 km (/ 155 miles) of bike paths in 5 years. This is the goal of the Aix-Marseille-Provence metropolis!

The development of the bike network in Marseille has been neglected for a long time, whereas it is more than necessary. In 2013, the city received a trophy for the least cycling city and was ranked 40th out of 40 in 2017. What a shame!

Stung at its core the city launched her 5-year cycling plan. Last June, during the 14th edition of the Bike Festival, Marseille inaugurated her new bike path with a breathtaking view: a two-kilometer safety lane that runs along the Mediterranean, on the Corniche Kennedy.

Other bike paths will follow by 2024.

In 2024 Marseille will host the sailing competitions of the Olympics Games.

Extending its cycle network makes sense and allows the city of Marseille to prove that it is definitely focused on Sport, Health, Safety and Ecology.

The Aix-Marseille-Provence Metropolis and the City of Marseille have a common purpose: making Marseille’s coastline a pedestrian and cycling «Olympic marina».
